How Buselia handles your photos, your journal and your data — in plain language.
1. Introduction
Buselia is a photo journal app published by Gaggo Studio (“we”, “us”). This policy explains which information Buselia handles, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. If anything is unclear, write to us at hello@gaggostudio.com.
2. The short version
- Your journal (photos, captions, notes, moods) is stored on your device. Buselia has no account system and we do not keep a copy on a server.
- When you tap create, the one photo you chose is sent over an encrypted connection to OpenAI, the AI service that paints it, and the artwork comes back to your device. This only happens after you give permission.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling or renting of your data.
- You can delete everything from inside the app whenever you like.
3. Information we handle
Stays on your device (we never receive it). The name, age range, gender and interests you enter during setup; your memories (the artwork, caption, note, mood, tags and date); your daily mood check-ins; your token balance, reminder time, language and other settings.
Sent to create your artwork. The photo you choose (resized to at most 1024 px and re-encoded, which removes camera metadata such as location) and the art style you picked. Nothing else — not your name, caption, note or mood — is sent.
Purchases. Payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to confirm what you have bought; it receives your purchase records, an anonymous identifier generated by the app and a device identifier supplied by iOS (identifier for vendor).
Sign in with Apple (optional). If you choose it, Apple shares your name with the app. It is kept on your device only and is used to greet you. Nothing in Buselia requires signing in.
Technical data. To make sure requests come from a genuine copy of Buselia we use Firebase App Check (Apple's App Attest). Google Cloud (which runs our server function) and RevenueCat process your IP address briefly as part of normal network operation; we do not use it to identify you.
4. How we use information
- To create the artwork you ask for.
- To deliver and restore purchases and apply your Pro benefits.
- To protect the service from abuse and keep it reliable.
- To show the reminders you turn on (these are generated on your device).
- To answer support requests and to comply with the law.
We do not use your photos or journal to train AI models, for advertising, or to build a profile about you.
5. AI processing and OpenAI
Your permission comes first. Before your first photo is sent, Buselia asks for your explicit permission. You can withdraw it at any time in Profile → “AI & your photos”; new photos are then no longer sent.
What happens. Your photo goes to a server function we run on Google Cloud (Firebase), which forwards it with a style instruction to OpenAI's image API and returns the result to your device. The function does not save your photo or the result and does not log image content.
OpenAI. According to OpenAI's API documentation, data sent to its API is not used to train or improve its models by default, and may be kept in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days (longer if the law requires). See OpenAI's policies for details.
Results can surprise you. AI artwork may be inaccurate or unexpected; faces and details can change. Only use photos you have the right to use.
6. Storage, retention and deletion
On your device. Your memories stay until you delete them. Profile → “Delete all my data” removes your memories, photos, moods, profile details and settings from your device and cancels reminders. It does not cancel an active subscription — manage that in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app also removes its data from your device, with one exception: your token balance, purchase records and Apple sign-in identifier are kept in the iOS Keychain, which survives deleting the app, and “Delete all my data” leaves your token balance in place too (tokens you bought are yours). Copies may remain in your iOS or iCloud backups until those backups are deleted or expire.
On our servers. We do not keep your photos or results. Our function keeps only operational logs (status codes, style identifier, timing) for a limited period for security and reliability; they contain no images and no personal content.
With providers. OpenAI (abuse-monitoring logs, see above), RevenueCat (purchase records) and Apple keep data according to their own policies.
7. Sharing
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Buselia: Apple (App Store, Sign in with Apple, App Attest), Google (Firebase Cloud Functions and App Check), OpenAI (image creation) and RevenueCat (purchase management). We do not sell your data and we have no advertising partners. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect people's rights and safety.
When you share a memory yourself (share sheet, Instagram, Photos), that is your choice and the receiving service's terms apply.
8. International transfers
Our server function runs in the United States (Google Cloud, us-central1) and OpenAI processes images in the United States. When you create artwork, your photo is therefore transferred to the United States. We rely on your permission for this transfer, and the providers describe the safeguards they apply in their own policies.
9. Your rights and choices
Most of your data lives only on your device, so you control it directly in the app: view, edit and delete memories, change or remove profile details, turn reminders off, and withdraw AI permission. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or Turkey's Law No. 6698, KVKK) you may also ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct or delete it, restrict or object to its processing, receive a copy, or withdraw consent, and you may complain to your data protection authority. Write to us at hello@gaggostudio.com; we aim to answer within 30 days.
10. Children
Buselia is not intended for children under 13 and asks for your age during setup; people under 13 cannot use the app. If you are between 13 and 17 (or below the age of digital consent where you live, which is 16 in some EU countries), please use Buselia together with a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has used Buselia, contact us and we will help remove the data.
11. Wellbeing disclaimer
Buselia is a journaling and reflection tool. It is not a medical or mental-health service and does not give advice. If you are struggling or in danger, please contact your local emergency number or a qualified professional.
12. Security
Data in transit is protected with HTTPS, requests are verified with App Check, we do not store your photos on servers, and local data is protected by your device's passcode and iOS protections. No method is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how your photos are handled, Buselia will ask for your permission again.
