Menu photos are used only to provide the requested menu analysis. We do not permanently store menu photos on our servers. Menu photos may be temporarily processed to extract text and generate AI-powered nutrition estimates.
2.2 OCR Text and Menu Content
Text extracted from menu images may be processed to identify food and beverage items and generate nutrition estimates.
Extracted menu text is used only for analysis purposes. We do not permanently store OCR text on our servers unless this is necessary to provide the requested functionality or comply with legal obligations.
2.3 Nutrition Analysis Results
ScanEat may generate estimated nutrition information, including:
- Estimated calories
- Estimated protein
- Estimated carbohydrates
- Estimated fat
- AI-generated food and meal recommendations
- Goal-based suggestions, such as options for losing weight, gaining weight, or staying fit
Analysis results may be stored locally on your device so you can view recent or previous results within the app. Locally stored data remains on your device unless you delete the app, clear the relevant app data, or use available in-app deletion options.
2.4 Personal Goal and Nutrition Profile Data
To provide personalized recommendations, ScanEat may collect and process information you choose to provide, including:
- Personal goal, such as losing weight, gaining weight, or staying fit
- Gender
- Age
- Activity level

ScanEat may support both anonymous Firebase authentication and Apple Sign-In.

4. AI Processing and OpenAI
ScanEat uses OpenAI services to generate menu analysis, estimated nutrition values, and personalized meal recommendations.
When you request an analysis, menu photos and/or extracted menu text may be sent to OpenAI for processing. We send only the information necessary to generate the requested analysis. OpenAI processes this information to help return AI-generated nutrition estimates and recommendations.
By using the analysis feature, you understand and agree that your menu content and related profile information may be processed by OpenAI solely for the purpose of generating the requested analysis.
AI-generated results may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for your personal circumstances. You should not rely on ScanEat as a substitute for medical, nutritional, or professional advice.
5. Data Storage and Retention
5.1 Menu Photos
Menu photos are processed temporarily for analysis. We do not permanently store menu photos on our servers.
5.2 OCR Text
OCR text extracted from menu images is used for generating the requested analysis. We do not permanently store extracted menu text on our servers unless necessary to provide the requested functionality or comply with legal obligations.
5.3 Local Analysis Results
Nutrition analysis results may be stored locally on your device. You can remove locally stored data by using available in-app deletion options, clearing app data where supported, or deleting the app from your device.
5.4 Firebase and Account Data
We may store account-related and app access data in Firebase, including:
- Firebase user ID
- Apple Sign-In identifier
- Email address, if shared
- Token balance
- Premium or free status
- Number of analyses performed
- Recent analysis history
- User goal and preferences
- Purchase history related to subscriptions or token purchases
We retain this information for as long as necessary to provide the app’s functionality, manage access rights, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent misuse.
