What is Yakın?
Yakın is an iPhone app for adults (18+) that helps you meet people who are in the same place as you, such as a café, a concert or a campus. The app finds other users nearby over Bluetooth. You browse the people you were recently around, like the ones you want to meet, and if they like you back you match and can chat. It is made by Gaggo Studio and is not yet on the App Store.
How does Yakın find people without GPS?
Your phone broadcasts a short anonymous code over Bluetooth Low Energy that keeps changing, and it listens for the codes of other Yakın users. It never broadcasts your name, phone number or a permanent ID. When your phone sees another user's code it tells our server the code and a rough signal range, and the server turns that into an encounter. No location is sent for this. An optional location permission is used only to show how many people are around you.
Is Yakın safe?
Yakın is only for people aged 18 and over. Every profile and chat has one-tap block and report, and safety features are never behind a paywall. Blocked people are never shown to each other. You can delete your account from within the app at any time. When meeting someone new, meet in a public place and tell a friend. Read our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use for details.
